Donations

Since the early 1990’s, the Gurdwara had been purchasing adjoining properties with a view to enlarging the Gurdwara as it was deemed to be too small to cater for some functions. Plans to enlarge the Gurdwara were drawn up in the early 2000’s and finally in 2009/2010 work on the redevelopment of the Gurdwara began. The Gurdwara had raised substantial funds to cover the costs for this development however it still needed to raise more. A bank loan was arranged to cover the shortfall. Over the subsequent years a large amount of the original loan has been repaid, but a sizable amount is still outstanding.

The Gurdwara relies on the generosity of the congregation and their donations to cover the daily running costs. These funds are also used for its ongoing maintenance as well as contributing to paying off the outstanding loan.

All through the Covid-19 lockdown, life members, their familes and members of the sangat have continued to support the Gurdwara by raising funds to help with day to day running costs.

Also through the Covid-19 lockdown, members of the Parbandhak Committee have continued to provided invaluable support to many people including students from Wolverhampton University, by offering them food and shelter.

Latest Improvments

The Gurdwara is continuously seeking to improve its facilities and currently has a number of outstanding long term and short term projects for which funds are required. Please follow our Facebook page for latest developments.

Current and Recent Improvements
Car Park - Completed

As part of the on-going reconstruction of the Gurdwara, the car park needed to be resurfaced, it was in a state of disrepair.

It took a lot of hard work by the parbandhak committee, the trustees and other members including Maninder Singh Jandu and Surinder Singh Plaha to get the plans approved including the removal of the old fire escape.

As a result, the resurfacing has transformed the car park and allowed the Gurdwara to increase the parking capacity to 26 cars including a number of disabled spaces. It has also allowed the Gurdwara to implement a one-way system which we hope will make a massive difference to the users of the car park.

Renvovation of the Darbar & Langar Halls - Waiting

This is the Gurdwara’s next long-term improvement project. The second darbar and langar hall, part of the original Gurdwara, both need a complete refurb. It has been more than 20 years since any major refurbishment was carried out on this side of the Gurdwara.  Substantial funds will be required to carry out this work.

Changes to Kitchen - Waiting

For health and safety reasons changes are required to the layout of the kitchen especially in the cooking areas.
